The game

A role: a team of physicians working for a governmental Public Health Commission

A broad problem: propose a decision tool to hospitals based on a risk factor analysis of a 'nosocomial' disease(*)

Tasks: (…) collect data at the (virtual) hospital (...) present results at a (simulated) conference.

In the mission text implemented at the beginning of the game, students will find out that a governmental Public Health Commission is requiring their medical competences to lead a public health survey. The epidemiology survey concerns the thromboembolic disease. The students are supposed to improve the diagnostic of this disease by collecting data through interviews with patients and also through a statistical study of a patient data base. After data analysis they will write a scientific article and apply it to a Medical Congress. They also have to report their findings to the Public health commission. Students work for several weeks on this particular mission.

Other missions possibly shorter could be designed and used with this web-based game.
